I am constantly managing anywhere from 5 – 10 projects at a time. Some related to design, some print and some web. All of these types of tasks require a number of actions before they’re actually completed.
From following a lead to closing a sale can be a month long process. Assuming you secure the lead then you have a slew of tasks that follow in sequence. 1) Draft your proposal 2) Collect a deposit 3) Design a concept 4) Refine a concept 5) Follow Up 6) Create it and so on…
To date I’ve been using a slew of programs such as iCal, Address Book, Mail, Stickies, Google Tasks, Notes and have tried several online project management sites. The problem with all of these is they’re inability to effectively sync with the iPhone.
Finally, after months of trying out different combination of web apps, iPhone apps and desktop software I decided to go with OmniFocus for the Mac and iPhone.
OmniFocus offers great Project Management and they’re iPhone App offers sync, not only through Wifi, but via WebDAV or MobileMe. This is great if you subscribe to the MobileMe service because similar to the way your iPhone syncs with MobileMe, OmniFocus syncs with its database, which is stored in your MobileMe or WebDAV location.
OmniFocus also syncs iCal Tasks, which is extremely handy. In the next incarnation of OmniFocus for the iPhone, this integration will be even more intuitive and improved.
For those of you that are on the move and managing multiple tasks. The best solution for keeping up-to-date and being able to seamlessly keep your tasks in sync is OmniFocus.
