A jailbreak for the iPhone 3GS has been released by George Hotz, the guy who was the first to unlock the iPhone. The jailbreak goes by the name of purplera1n and can be found on his site, however, the server has been a little slow today.
Apparently, Hotz was tired of waiting for the DevTeam, and since they’ve mentioned that they’ll be waiting for the 3.1 update to release a jailbreak, he decided to take matters into his own hands.
The only downside right now is that purplera1n is for Windows based computers only (not Windows 7). Hotz says that a Mac version is on the way, but my guess is by that point DevTeam will have QuickPwn out.
I’m curious to see if Parallels and Fusion virtual machine activity increases over the next few days.
