Rogers has officially started to roll out their HSPA+ network, which effectively takes the current 7.1Mbps 3G speeds and bumps it to a whopping 21Mbps. upload speeds of about 5.7Mbps (unconfirmed).
Rogers will be rolling out the new service starting with it’s largest market, Toronto, of course and slowly pushing it to the rest of Canada over throughout the coming months.
What does this mean for iPhone 3GS users? I’m hoping that it means a significant increase in 3G network speed, but in reality, the 3GS will only support speeds of “up to” 7.2 Mbps, which currently we cannot reach on the existing 3G network configuration.
Unfortunately, even if we do see an increase to the 7Mbps range, the upstream technology in the iPhone 3GS is still sub-par, which means we’ll still be crippled when it comes to uploading information.
